Economy Frightens Graduates

The economy is affecting Sac State student’s confidence in life after graduation as many of the graduates find it hard to find jobs in their field of work.

Several Sac State students are finding that graduation might not bring them the jobs they once dreamed of.

Senior Lisa Tran said she predicts she is going to have a hard time finding employment in the Criminal Justice Department because most agencies primarily hire based on experience.

“Right now the economy is going down really bad, that agencies are not hiring,“ said Tran.

Statistics show that the unemployment rates have gone up 2.4 points since last October.

Sac State senior, Andrew Juric is nervous and knows that when he graduates he is not going to necessarily get a job. Juric feels he needs to go back to school again to get a real job.

“When I get out I plan on sitting on the couch for quite awhile trying to figure out what job to get.” Juric has a major in Business Administration with a minor in real estate and land use studies.

Senior Daniel Rios is not too worried about employment after graduation.

“I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to get a job. We’re always gonna need teachers,” said Rios.
