Budget Cuts Crisis

The recent budget crisis in California is effecting service workers though less sales, tips, and income.

The economy has taken a turn for the worst since the budget crisis has been in effect.

Everyone from sales, to the Dow Jones Market have been effected by California's budget crisis.

A 78 day late budget closed a gap of about $17 billion dollars for California this month, which would require tax payers to make earlier payments to the government.

Citizens are upset with this recent budget crisis. "I need to work, and with all of these drastic lay-offs that have been happening to my friends and family, I am paranoid that i may be next," said receptionist, Morgan Stewart.

Mall's, department stores, and restaurants are reporting lower sales due to a terrible economy and the recent budget cut.

After the recent Market Crash of 777 points today, it is hard to imagine how California's budget crisis will to anything but get worse.

You have some good data and one good quote.

The assignment is to talk to at least three service workers (working in retail, bartenders and waitresses, taxi drivers, hotel clerks) and see how the economy is affecting them.

Take the time to talk to more people and see if you can get 'the pulse of the people' in low-paying jobs in Sac.

Get out an AP stylebook and check on the difference between affect and effect!

Rewrite with the new interviews and then let's look at what you have.
